Learn How To DIY Custom Acrylic Bookmarks

DIY these custom acrylic bookmarks in just a few steps

Recently, I’ve been LOVING rainy days.

Running during a rainy day? Spending an afternoon curled up with a good book? Count ME in! Per usual Maca-style, I’m the queen of losing track of my reads and my bookmarks, SO to fix this little problem, I decided to DIY the sweetest ones in acrylic and personalize them with some spray paint.

To prep you for your next read, let’s make these adorable, custom bookmarks making your next reading experience a little more special.

Let’s do it!

Materials Required:

  • 0.20 clear 12×12 inch acrylic sheets (I got mine over here )
  •  Cricut machine
  • Scissors
  • Masking tape
  • Assorted spray paint (In your favourite colours)

Step one: Let’s cut the acrylic

I used my Cricut machine to cut this adorable shape easier, but you can also do them with scissors if you don’t have a Cricut handy. I attached the clear acrylic sheet to a standard grip mat and secure it with masking tape (so it won’t moving during the cutting time).

The settings you’ll need to cut acrylic using a Cricut machine: Change your standard blade to the knife blade and use the basswood setting (it will cut the piece 14 times and it’s perfect for this material). Beware, be patient, the cut is LONG.

Step two: Have fun personalizing your bookmark!

Remove the two protective film from the acrylic pieces and now let’s spray paint them! I added tiny strokes mixing two spray paint colours, keeping the finish modern and minimal. Spray paint was the best coverage I found for this type of acrylic, so let it dry for at least one hour in a well ventilated area.

Ps. Don’t forget to protect yourself with a mask when you spray paint, deal?

Voila!

Here are our cute bookmarks ready to style our books.

I can’t wait to make more i different materials (brass, paper, leather!)

See you in the next weekly DIY!
