National Taco Day: 4 Must-Try Spots in Montreal

How perfect is it that National Taco Day falls on Taco Tuesday this year? The stars are aligned and I’m loving it.To help you celebrate this important holiday in the city, I put together a Taco bliss crawl list with the best of the best, la creme de la creme of avocados, soft tortillas and lots, I mean lots of picante.Salud!

La TamaleraThis hip and colorful joint located in Mile-End was so friendly, cozy and nomnomnom. The menu is simple but very, very tasteful with vegetarian and meat lover options. The overall ambiance, music and decor made me want to buy a ticket to Mexico right after I finished eating here. What we had: Tacos al Pastor + Tacos de CarnitasTips: You need to try their Tamales and some homemade drinks like Tamarindo and Limon.

El GordoYou can expect a great vibe, delish plates, and a funky decor any day at Le Gordo. Located in the middle of Little Burgundy, this pretty spot has a great taco menu with some impressive appetizers that I loved. Chips and some guac in the middle of the day? Si, por favor! What we had: Chorizo + Puerco TacosTips: Do me a giant favor and try the empanadas de plantain, you’re very welcome.

EsconditeOne of my favorite Mexican fusion spots in the city, I simply can’t-stop-going and as soon as I’m finishing I’m already counting the days til I’m coming back.  Honestly, I think I’ve tried the entire menu already, raise yo’ hands if you are with me! Escondite is a “cerveceria de barrio” located in downtown Montreal, with a stunning wall decor (I mean, heaven to me, right?) and a phenomenal menu. Amazing micheladas, tasty guac and a concept of Mexican tapas, where you can share these small plates with your friends. What we had: Taco Baja + Pollos Hermanos + Al PastorTips: You CAN’T leave this place without trying these appetizers: Guacamole + Corn Esquite + Nachos

SocialitoHey Williamsburg, Montreal is not too shabby when it comes to trendy Mexican places like Socialito. Tropical vibes are just spicing up Mile End and they just did it right. This Mexican fusion place has some brilliant Asian influences in a menu you’ll devour. You can expect seven options of Tacos including fish, steak, pork and vegetarian. What we had: Steak + Pastor + Carnitas TacosTips: Don’t miss the queso fundido with chorizo y tortillas. Divino!
