Local Love: A charming neighbourhood, Pointe-Nord

Could you believe me if I confess I have a neighborhood crush? As a mama of two that loves discovering new places, enjoying a good Sunday brunch, a quiet walk with stunning picturesque views by the water and an impeccable interior design, I can say I’m all about keeping an active city lifestyle full of all the perfect little details.Montreal has a new up-and-coming neighborhood and it’s gaining a recognized notoriety with a fantastic location only 5 minutes from downtown and with a perfect mix of the European old world charm and the best of the modern infrastructure, all in one place, in Pointe-Nord.To help you discover all the perfect little details about this vibrant community in Nuns Island, I’ve put together a list for you of some of the greatest things to do and see, even if you don’t live here (yet).

Sweet Mornings Famous for it’s finest pastries, artisanal bread and finger lickin’good croissants, Mamie Clafoutis is a must if you’re looking for a warm sip of coffee along with a great snack. The Nuns Island location is simply delightful, bright and cozy. With communal tables, exposed brick and wood walls and a great interior design, you’ll feel connected and ready to start your day as a truly champion.Little details you need to try: a double shot espresso (the barista is the espresso master), a piece of their dreamy Mamie chocolate cake and any muffin of the day, simply delish!

It’s all about a waterfront lifestyleSometimes Montrealers tend to forget we live on a beautiful island and aside national parks and the suburban areas of the city, we don’t really enjoy a daily waterfront lifestyle. Pointe-Nord is the first neighborhood in the downtown core with direct access to the magnificent Saint-Lawrence river with some spectacular views you’ll appreciate in any season. Little details you need to see: During summer, grab your bike and enjoy Montreal’s skyline in a waterfront bike path and head directly to Marche Atwater, finish off your day hosting a picnic with friends and enjoying the best view of the city!

A smarter way of livingNowadays sustainability and LEED projects play a great role in the way we live, consume and raise our families. Pointe-Nord is one of the few certified LEED ND Gold neighborhood in the country and planned as a green project, respecting the environment with the use of smart renewable energy sources and including only non-toxic materials. Little details you need to do: Enjoy all the green hidden gems of this neighborhood, walk by one of the many pedestrian paths and be surprised with the beautiful landscaping and wildflowers. There are multiple eco options as well including Bixi’s and public transport heading to downtown in less than 15 minutes.

Enjoy a gourmet breakWhen the most happening restaurant in Outremont opened it’s doors in Pointe-Nord, I knew it was going to be the star of fine dining in the area. Serving a fantastic brunch, lunch and dinner menus, Les Enfants Terribles will charm you with an immense terrace right on the river and a great decor you’ll adore.Little details you need to try: We usually go for Brunch and their benedicts are a hit! Ask for the daily specials, they’re extremely worth it. If you’re swooning over some sweet, don’t miss out the peanut butter brownie, so good!

All the things you need in one placeThis urban village has a true essence and a heart and you’ll feel a vibrant community vibe everywhere you go. Pointe-Nord has a great main street with only the best mix of curated and finest local businesses where you’ll find all the things you need. Pointe-Nord’s communal plaza hosts special events and concerts you simply can’t miss. Little details you need to try: Have a relaxing time enjoying a yoga class in the new Breathepod studio, offering daily classes in hot yoga, fusion, meditation, and yoga, with the very best like-minded instructors in the area. Check the full schedule here
Pointe-Nord is definitely a world-class vision of a great urban village any Montrealer will be proud of and I just can’t wait to see what’s next.
