local love: elixir smoothies

I’m so excited to start a new segment in the blog today introducing new hip and local brands that I’m sure you’ll love.
Local love was something I had in mind for a while showcasing my favorite local brands (not only Canadian) in a fun and informative way.

This week, I’d love to present you Elixir Smoothies, a new brand located in Montreal with the coolest concept and delicious options for you to try. 
Vicky is the mastermind behind Elixir and she was super sweet and excited to collaborate in this segment, and I have to say, these smoothies are just SO good you guys!

I wanted to know a few things about her brand so we could know them very well today.

– Tell us a bit about this lovely idea, Elixir Smoothies

I had my first ever smoothie when I was in college and instantly fell in love with their numerous benefits; increase of energy , improved concentration… and didn’t go a day without one after that. A few years later when I got my first 9 to 5 job, daily smoothies were a thing of the past since I really couldn’t find the time to prepare them anymore. Needless to say that I immediately felt the impacts in my body…and mind. So I started researching for options on the market and couldn’t find anything. My only option was to stop somewhere on the way to work to get an overpriced and not so nutritious smoothie. I eventually got the idea of making myself pre-portioned ready-to-blend smoothie packs in zip-lock bags and thought that this concept could also help other people with a desire to eat well on a busy schedule. 

An elixir is a magical potion supposedly able to prolong life indefinitely…I believe that this definition could go right next to the word Smoothie in the dictionary as well and that’s why I named my company Elixir Smoothies 🙂

Elixir Smoothies offers 4 different yummy ready-to-mix frozen smoothies in two different sizes 14oz and 24oz. Just add water or any liquid of your choice and this magic potion is ready! you can read more details here

The cool thing about this company is that you can easily order online (subscription for 8 packages or a single one if you want to try them first) delivered to different points in the city including coffee shops.
Their delicious flavours include:
TONIC – Mango, Pineapple, Orange, Ginger, Organic Goji Berries and Organic Hemp Seeds

ZEN – Spinach, Banana, Blueberries, Date, Organic Hemp Seeds, Organic Cocoa Powder, Organic Ground Cinnamon.

GLOW – Banana, Raspberries, Mango, Organic Coconut Milk, Organic Chia Seeds, Organic Goji Berries, Organic Shredded Coconut.

BOOST – Spinach, Pineapple, Mango, Mint, Lime Zest, Organic Matcha Powder, Organic Spirulina Powder, Organic Chia Seeds.

– What made you decide to open your business and why a healthy one?

I guess I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit and always knew that I wanted to help and make a small difference in people’s lives but didn’t know to achieve it until very recently ! 

In 2012, I attended a conference about veganism and it completely changed my beliefs about nutrition. I started reading and educating myself on the subject and realized that most people (including me!) are not really aware of the importance of adding more plant-based foods into their diets. Since that day I have been trying to spread the word about the power of a plant-based diet…without trying to turn everyone into a vegan! It was natural for me to build a business in which our mission is simply to help people introduce more fruits, veggies and superfoods into their daily routine. 

–  Any tips for future entrepreneurs in the city?

To be honest, I don’t feel like I am in a position where I can give advices just yet…but if any of you have some for me, I would gladly take them 🙂
