Our Travel Adventures to Prince Edward County with Kids This Year!
If you ask me, Sooooo Maca: if there’s one local spot you could visit over and over every year in Canada, where would you go?
– Immediate thought – Prince Edward County – without a doubt.
The County has the perfect charm, local flair of a true Canadian small town during summer where wine & beer producers upgrade a regular blonde beer into an outstanding culinary experience, and YES – a great family destination that we have explored for many years in the past (you can check all the past PEC guides here, here and here).
Below, I’m sharing all the new fave spots we discovered you cannot miss out if you’re planning a roadtrip to Prince Edward County this year.
Stay
A heavenly experience is the best description of staying at the Prince Edward County Church. I was SO impressed to learn you can rent a 131-year-old church, completely renovated keeping some fun decor surprises during your stay: a confession booth, the original visitors book from the 1900, 40′ ceilings with original beams and much more!
You’ll have 4 beautiful bedrooms (two at the top of the church where the orchestra was placed), 2 bathrooms, 2 dining areas, a big fully-equipped kitchen and all the outdoor amenities needed for summer.

EAT
– If you want a hip experience: We can’t miss a visit to Wellington’s Drake Devonshire where the kids explore outside, while mama and daddy sit at the terrace overlooking at the dreamy lake Ontario having some drinks and appetizers. My recommendations if it’s your first time besides making a reservation? Try the falafel bowl, the steak frites and the drake burger paired with a local beer or wine if you want to make it fancy.
– If you want something quick after the beach: A smash burger is the way to do it right when you are in The County – and for us, the best one is at Harry’s Charbroiled. They offer beef, vegan, red or green chorizo burger options, just a dream after a sunny day (Do not miss the fries, please and thank you).
– If you crave some Italian: I pinky promise Midtown Brewing’s wood fired neapolitan pizza menu options will make you dream to come back every summer (you can ask Nico about this pizza situation and he will confirm all the details). We ADORE their staff (that showed Nico & Oli how to make their own pizzas), their sweet terrace, the soft serve ice creams, and their draft beer that keep surprising us with so many fun flavours every season – a MUST visit!
– If you just want a drink: We visited the new All my friends Beer co Brewery in Bloomfield after a long day strolling around (I saw their incredible packaging design on social media and screamed a bit dying to see them IRL). We loooved how cozy, small and great this spot is for little families like ours, where you can stay for a drink, play some board games or have a fun conversation with the owner at the cash.
wellness
If you are traveling with your family, with friends or on a solo adventure mode, explore some activities that can help you unplug from our busy agendas, rebooting our minds feeling fresh and ready for any challenges ahead.
If you want to enjoy the dunes, the sandy beaches and crystalline water of Lake Ontario head to Sandbanks Provincial Park – did you know this place is home to the world’s largest baymouth barrier dune formation? Incredible right!
If you need to discover new hiking paths, PEC has many scenic routes for you (even inside Sandbanks park) where you can pick short walks from 2km up to 48km in the famous millennium trail. Check the 10 best trails and hiking areas at The County over here.
If you are a Pilates reformer fan as myself, I recently discovered The Studio PEC a cute pilates and yoga studio in the middle of Picton that I can’t wait to try the next time I visit.
Stroll & Play
If you can’t wait to check out the new properties at The County, add to your list The Royal Hotel located in Picton and Wander The Resort in Bloomfield. Did you know you can spend the day at Wander’s beach club even if you aren’t a guest of the hotel? The day pass includes towel service, a lounge area for you to relax, toys for kids and free parking.
Every Wednesday, you can visit The Royal between 8:30am to 10:30am for some baby and me playtime! You can get a coffee, pastries and enjoy two hours where your little ones can play, with no reservation required (Everything here is stunning).
If you love fishing with your kiddos, head to Little Bluff, a beautiful cobblestone beach that is known as a barrier beach, protecting the land from the waters of the immense Lake Ontario, and yes! You can splash in the beach for a bit as well while you’re there.
