Best Brunch in Montreal

9 years ago, exploring a new city was our number one sport. and yes, you gotta be suuuuure I secured the MVP award by visiting many spots in the city (with and without kids) the past years.

Brunch is our family tradition. Our little thing. Our yay, let’s go eat all the bacon adventure.

In today’s post, I finally had some time to list all our favourite brunch places in Montreal, with kids! Accommodating many palettes: casual, fancy, international, very canadian, and so much more.

Are you ready to take notes of our fave spots (head here if you want a solid list of the essentials you also need to visit)

I promise they’ll be as cozy as that weighted blanket you have at home!

Our fave oeuf benedictine spot

Le Vieux Velo – if eggs beni is your thing, this is the place! (they’re well known as specialists in the city) and are ultra special with kids when you visit (including colouring sheets and warm hugs). This place is affordable, cozy and they have pink tables *I repeat, pink tables*

59, rue Beaubien, Montreal

Our fave weekday spot

Arthurs – A nosh for you, and you, and YOU (did you read me, Oprah?) Arthur’s has become my extended-foodie-family, and if you follow me on Instagram, you know that I gotta be here on a weekly basis. Best things on the menu? their pancakes! the bagel tower with fresh salmon, yogurt & granola and please don’t miss out the bacon.

4621 Notre-Dame O, Montreal

Our fave English Breakfast SPOT

Larrys & Lawrence – I had to pick these two because a.) long live the queen! b.) it’s impossible to pick just one. Larry’s all-day breakfast tapas-style menu has my heart since day one (please try their bacon, mushrooms and toast on butter) and Lawrence, it’s too too good to miss when you’re in Montreal. Try their creamy eggs (drooling) and scones (please).

Lawrence location: 5201 Boul St-Laurent

Larry’s location: 9, avenue Fairmount Est

Our fave diner-style SPOT

Beauty’s Luncheonette  – A Montreal classic since 1942, Beauty’s is THE one. that kind of diner that gets you into the weekend. The place where you’ll get dreamy hash browns, classic Montreal bagels with cream cheese, and milkshakes, yes, this gotta be one of our favourite brunch places in Montreal, with kids!

93 ave. du Mont-Royal Ouest

Our fave Portuguese brunch spot

Capsa – After our adventures to Lisbon and Porto last year, I was only craving a good francesinha (please go here and try it). Capsa is in the lower level of the ultra-cool Boxotel (a place that I hold in my heart dearly). What you CAN’T miss: fried poppers Poutine inversée (OMG), their eggs beni and the pancakes for the kiddos.

175 Ontario E

Our fave poutine brunch spot

L’Gros Luxe (multiple locations) – this hood bar is seriously the best family-spot discovery for us. With 3 locations in Montreal, they serve the most epic tater tot  breakfast poutine (that you can top up with bacon, pulled pork, and fried egg). Bonus points: their caesars are epic as well.

150 rue Bernard Ouest – 451 av. Duluth Est – 5942 Sherbrooke Ouest

Our fave new (cute) spot

Restaurant Basterd -this quiet neighbourhood spot in Villeray is a family heaven! with the prettiest decor, high-chairs, changing tables in the bathrooms and a swoon-worthy wallpaper, I adored bringing Nico and Oli here. You can’t miss: the benedict (served on a toasted, warm croissant with swiss cheese and prosciutto) and their classic breakfast.

260 Rue Gary-Carter

Our fave big portions spot

Restaurant Janine & Regine Cafe – the tastiest french toasts, filled croissants, latkes and so much more, these two restos are THE bomb with kids. They even have a special menu for kids, serving 6 options, all incredible, you bet. The OG (Regine) is in the heart of Rosemont and the newest family addition, Janine, at Verdun.

1840 Rue Beaubien Est – 3900 rue Wellington

Our fave Australian brunch spot

Melbourne Cafe – Aussies, you know how to do some serious brunch (and I couldn’t love YOU more). If you ask me where can you get the best avocado toast in Montreal, hands-down, Melbourne deserves the award. Bonus points: extra halloumi on the side? oui svp!

4615 Boul St-Laurent

our fave sweet meets savoury spot

Well – This little stylish coffee spot in Verdun has the best of the sweet and savoury in Montreal: their fluffly ricotta-maple-bacon pancakes (that I cry for), edamame toast with salmon gravlax and classic egg and bacon for the little kiddos. Even though it is a small place, they are more than happy to receive kids during the weekends.

4567 rue Wellington

Brunch favourite menu

Our oldie but goodie spot

Bagel etc – Our fave landmark in Mile-End (and once fave spot of Leonard Cohen) wow, right? Opened since 1940, this diner design is incredibly beautiful with a menu for all tastes. Classic bagels (always Fairmont), lots of bacon (the crispiest), tons of eggs (win-win) and coffee (hallelujah, all the coffee).

4320 boul. Saint-Laurent

Our fave Old Port spot

Olive & Gourmando – Chez Olive, everything tastes better (and yes, I mean it). Spicy poached eggs? I gotcha! House-made ricotta “sweet”? God bless! Fresh fruit with yogurt for the kiddos? on aime! (I recently bought their new cookbook and this gotta be the closest to kitchen heaven).

351 Rue Saint-Paul W.
